Research Project

For subproject 3, the “Landesmuseum Natur und Mensch” in Oldenburg has made its collection of cowrie shells available. The focus is on researching the provenance and collection history of these objects, which are embedded in both natural history and ethnological contexts. This includes collection-related work such as historical contextualization, analysis of the documentation available, and structured inventorying of the collection. The results of this work provide an important basis for further research priorities within the project.
