Welcome to the website of the science space "Digital Provenance and Collection Research"
(„Provenienz- und Sammlungsforschung Digital" (ProSaDi))
The ProSaDi Science Space (Wissenschaftsraum) is a collaborative research project involving the fields of history, culture, media, engineering, and geoinformation sciences. Participants include Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg, Jade University of Applied Sciences, Leibniz University Hannover, Leuphana University Lüneburg, the State Museum for Nature and Human in Oldenburg, the Network for Provenance Research in Lower Saxony at the State Museum in Hannover, and the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven.
The focus is on developing new methods for digitally supported research and presentation of collection items that, for various reasons—be it colonialism, war, looting, persecution, market dynamics—have been removed from their original contexts of origin and are now preserved in German museums, recorded in databases, and presented in exhibitions.
ProSaDi will receive around three million euros in funding from 2024 to 2028 as part of the “Wissenschaftsräume” (Science Spaces) funding line from the zukunft.niedersachsen program of the Volkswagen Foundation and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK).
On this website, you will find information about the research project, the persons involved, and the project activities.
